The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot (1888–1965)
Thomas Stearns Eliot was born into a wealthy family related to America’s cultural elite. He grew up in St Louis where his father was chief executive of a brick company. This poem was written before he came to England.
