Step One: Finding a Recipe

Using what you have learned about effective Google search strategies, search for a recipe using the steps below:

Steps for Searching

  1. Start by using general keywords. How may results does this find?
  2. Refine your search. Can you add any specific keywords to help with this?
  3. Consider boolean operators. Does using AND or OR help in any way?
  4. Try putting a phrase in quotation marks e.g. "chocolate cake".
  5. Can you limit your search to a particular country?

SHARE your findings with the people around you. What makes your search more effective?

Now that you've practiced your search skills, see if you can apply this to a HASS based topic. Focusing on Geography and Liveability, complete the following search:

Locate information on an urban issue in the place where you live.
