Performing Arts: Carramar: The Arts

Performance Uniform

Musicians in the following ensembles are required to wear the Performance Uniform for certain occasions:

  • Concert Band
  • Jazz Ensemble
  • Girls Vocal Ensemble
  • Senior Guitar Ensemble
  • Secondary String Ensemble
  • Senior String Quartet.

The performance Uniform consists of:

  • A shirt (Males: black with turquoise / Females: turquoise blue) - available from the Uniform Shop
  • Black floor length trousers (not jeans, jeggings or leggings)
  • Black socks/stockings
  • Black closed in shoes
  • Hair, makeup and jewellery in accordance with School Policy.

Primary Dance (open for years 3-6)

8 weeks at Carramar, students will be dancing to a range of styles including jazz, contemporary and hiphop throughout the term. Please contact Paris to reserve your place: parisday96@hotmail.com

Music Ensembles and Programs

Chamber Groups

​Jazz Ensemble - Comprises of auditioned secondary students of relevant jazz instrumentation, under the direction of Mr Steve Williams. 

Rainbow Strings - Comprises of Years 5 and 6 violin, viola and cello students under the direction of Ms Anne Speer. 

Secondary String Ensemble Comprises of secondary students learning violin, viola, cello and double bass, under the direction of Ms Anne Speer.

Senior String Quartet - Comprises of specifically selected senior secondary strings players, under the direction of Ms Anne Speer. Yearly conditional. Only for certain events, eg Art Exhibition. Rehearsals are not scheduled.

Junior Guitar Ensemble - Comprises of auditioned primary classical guitar students, under the direction of Mr John Ralph. 

Senior Guitar Ensemble - Comprises of auditioned secondary classical guitar students, under the direction of Mr John Ralph. 

Percussion Ensemble – Comprises of secondary students interested in all forms of percussion, under the direction of Mrs Imogen Thomson. 

Vocal Ensembles and Programs

Senior Choir - Comprises of secondary students, under the direction of Mrs Michelle Williams. 

Girls Vocal Ensemble - Comprises of auditioned secondary female students, under the direction of Miss Andrea Stimson. 

Primary Vocal Ensemble - Comprises of auditioned primary students, under the direction of Miss Andrea Stimson.

Year 3 Choir - Comprised of all students in Year 3, directed by Mrs Michelle Williams and Mr Steve Williams.

Year 4 Choir - Comprised of all students in Year 4, directed by Mrs Michelle Williams and Mr Steve Williams.

Year 5 Choir - Comprised of students in Year 5, directed by Mrs Michelle Williams and Mr Steve Williams.

Year 6 Choir - Comprised of students in Year 6, directed by Mrs Michelle Williams and Mr Steve Williams.

Instrumental Ensembles and Programs

Senior Concert Band - Comprises of secondary students of relevant woodwind, brass and percussion instrumentation, under the direction of Mr Steve Williams. 

Year 4 Strings Program  Available to Year 4 students, who given the opportunity to learn violin, viola or cello.

Year 4 String Ensemble - Comprised of string students in Year 4, directed by Mrs Anne Speer. 

Year 4 Band Program Available to Year 4 students, who are given the opportunity to learn flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, baritone or percussion.

Year 4 Concert Band - Comprised of Year 4 band instrumental students, directed by Mr Steve Williams.

Year 5 Instrumental Program  Available to Year 5 students who choose to continue with the lessons from their Year 4 Strings or Band Program. Instrument hire free of charge.

Primary Concert Band Comprises primary band instrumental students, directed by Mr Steve Williams. 

Contemporary Ensembles

Contemporary Ensemble 1 - Comprises of auditioned secondary students of relevant contemporary instrumentation, under the direction of Mrs Michelle Williams. Yearly conditional. 

Contemporary Ensemble 2 - Comprises of auditioned secondary students of relevant contemporary instrumentation, under the direction of Mrs Michelle Williams. Yearly conditional. 

Contemporary Ensemble 3 - Comprises of auditioned secondary students of relevant contemporary instrumentation, under the direction of Mrs Michelle Williams. Yearly conditional.
