Synopsis: The primary children of colonists on the planet Venus have no memories of ever seeing the sun. The rain on Venus is constant, and the sun shines for just few hours once every seven years. The children speculate about what the sun is like. Margot, a recent transplant from Earth, faintly remembers the sun but the other children don't believe her and treat her with jealousy and contempt.
Talking Points: jealousy, bullying, cultural differences.
Explanation of "All Summer in a Day" by Bradbury
The story is about a class of students on Venus, which, in this story, is a world of constant rainstorms, where the Sun is visible for only one hour every seven years. One of the children, Margot, moved to Venus from Earth five years earlier, and she is the only one who remembers sunshine, since the Sun shone regularly on Earth.

All Summer in a day [2012]
This relatively modern version of the story is quite true to the original. One thing that stands out for me is the “creepy” looks on the faces of some of the children. With class-mates like these, I can see why Margot wants to go back to Earth!
