Songs of the Stolen Generations (Mission Songs)

From Jessie Lloyd's The Songs Back Home music project. She's scoured Australia talking to indigenous Australians forced to live in missions under the Aboriginal Protection Act during much of the 20th century. Jessie's own grandparents Alma and Albert Geia who were "transported" on The Irex to Palm Island started her journey on this unique history project. The 1957 Palm Island Strike, WWII plane spotting in Darwin and the Moree fringe-dweller camps feature in this collection. See the explanations for each song under the recording.
