Exploring 1950s USA

Assessment Task Explore the United States of America of the 1950s including the political, historical events and social aspects

This pathfinder has been developed to assist Year 10 Extension English students to exploring the social, political and historical aspects of 1950s USA  prior to viewing the feature film "Dead Poets Society"(1989). The resources selected provide a general background context for the film and focus primarily on allowing students to develop a general overview of the 1950s rather than an in-depth study of one particular event or ideology. A range of resource types have been chosen to provide experience in viewing and acquiring information from a range of formats and to cater for a range of learning styles and preferences. Students may wish to use these resources as a starting point for further research in areas of particular interest to them.
