Purpose
The purpose of the Social Club is to encourage social interaction between all staff members.
Regular functions organised by the Social Club Committee or delegates (eg Houses) include an end of year staff Christmas function and the celebration of other significant events for individual staff such as births, birthdays, weddings and engagements.
Membership
Upon commencement of employment at St Stephen’s School, it is expected that all staff become members of the Social Club. The rights and responsibilities implied by the Gift Giving Policy apply to all members.
Subscription costs are decided by current members of the Social Committee for the following year and are inclusive of the subscription and Christmas function contribution. The cost of the Christmas function is subsidised by the School Council. Payment is by automatic salary deductions over 12 months.
Gift Giving Policy
The procedure for Gift Giving is: Deans of Houses or relevant Leaders of other areas in the School, when made aware of Illnesses or causes for celebration, will delegate a staff member to purchase the gift/card and seek reimbursement to the amounts given below from the Treasurer of the Social Club. Receipts must be given to the Treasurer for reimbursement.
Illness
The gift (eg flowers/book) is to be delivered personally by a Dean/Manager or appropriate delegated staff member.

Sensitivity to the staff concerned will be the deciding point for any of the following:

Christmas Function
This is organised by the Social Club Committee at a venue and date that is agreed upon by School Leadership. Those belonging to the Social Club have their Christmas function paid for from their subscription fees. The cost of the Christmas function is also subsidised by the School Council.
Other Functions
Each term, a Social Club Function will be organised by the Social Club Committee or delegates from Secondary/Primary/Houses that will be open to all staff and subsidised to the value of $250 towards food and drinks or activities.
During Terms 1, 2 and 3 the Social Club will also contribute up to $250 towards food for a morning tea or similar gathering that will acknowledge Celebrations i.e. births, engagements and weddings. These Celebrations are to be organised by Secondary/Primary/House.
