Staff Index: People & Culture

Who we are

History:

Previously called Human Resources, the People and Culture Team saw an opportunity to rethink the way we support our people at St Stephen’s School and furthering connections with the wider school community and with the support of the Executive Team, we moved to a “People and Culture Team” in January 2016.

What is the difference?

It’s all about the focus. We recognise that without a focus on our people, human resources is maintained as a transactional function. We are working closely with staff in all areas to hear their needs and support them throughout every stage and situation of their working life as part of St Stephen’s School Community.

What are some of the programs/activities that make People and Culture different to Human Resources?

  • A focus on relationships when assisting staff to navigate through conflict or issues

  • Partner with the School Nurses and Psychologists on Wellness initiatives

  • Partnering with Corporates to be able to offer Staff Benefits Programs

  • Continuing to find ways to help staff with ongoing wellness, including making it more accessible

  • Investigating and promoting flexible work options

  • Supporting individual staff with health and wellbeing issues through our Early Intervention and Return to Work Program and Employee Assistance Program

  • Promotion of Coaching and Mentoring with the SSI, through internal referral and external referrals to Centrecare Corporate.

  • Providing advice and support in all School change management programs

  • Sharing staff feedback through organisational surveys to make improvements
